Can anyone recommend some packet tricks?

Preferably ones that make sense! For example 3 card monte (i already have stand up monte). Cause it makes sense you only have a few cards and not a whole deck in the context of the trick.

Really?! I got it out of a "Easy to Master Card Miracles" with Michael Ammar. Down side is the cards aren't Bicycle. There must be a way to get them though. I think it's just 5 gaff cards . . .

Hopefully Penguin doesn't kick my butt, but if it's discontinued . . . Here is an option. That is just the first link I googled. You can find it.

Why are you looking for packet tricks? What I mean is, you do Monte because it makes sense that only a few cards are used. I can agree with that. The big weakness of most packet tricks is the question, "what is the reason for only using a few cards?" Another big drawback is the over reliance on false counts. If I were you I would work on four card productions first. Then you have an opener which can lead into the packet trick.

I've had my eye on this for a long time. Focus by Phil Goldstein. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S4046 As well as the Bannon DVDs

Packet tricks go over well with laymen because there are less cards to keep track of. I have never come across an instance to which there needed to be a reason for using less cards besides just telling them so, "I've got something for you here and it utilizes only ___ cards." etc. Magic doesn't always need to make sense because it's magic.

Packet Killer (Out of stock at Penguin though)

Darwin Ortiz or Tommy Wonder's, Wild Card is an awesome effect.

Darwin's reason for using a packet of cards makes sense;

My favorite packet trick of all time is Bannon's Twisted Sisters. Another favorite is Bannon's Royal Scam. Both tricks kill because the have multiple kicker climaxes that the spectators do not see coming.

I would say go back and check out Ghost Flight and Trifle from the Aldo DVD. Instead of the piece of paper that Aldo uses, I use the Queen CD called Night at the Opera. It fits the trick rather nicely and makes more sense that the piece of paper. It's a very, very good trick.

I've had a good luck with David Regal's Off With His Head. I don't personally like the trick but women LOVE it.

Of course, it is always nice to have a version of Twisting the Aces handy. I have a couple original versions that I do.

I Hate David Copperfield is an amazing illusion with 3 cards and is super easy to do.

Some of my favorite packet tricks are ones that I have created. I'm a false count/display junkie so I like to work on original packet tricks all of the time.

Definitely Twisted Sister. One of the best. That is the only I carry with me on a regular basis.
