Hmmm, a couple of things seem a little weird. First you are from Ohio but the competition was from the UK magic championship. Second like keepitbottled wrote, sandwich tricks are very common, sorry you didn't invent it.

One of the best constructed sandwich routines I have ever seen is Allen Ackerman's LJ meets BJ. It uses the same concept as the mystery card but uses it as the kicker finish. So you go through the routine finding the selection in the sandwich then place the selection back in the deck. You set the deck aside and you are holding only the two jokers. Then you carefully pick up the mystery card that has been sitting on the table the whole time. You turn it over to reveal that it is their signed card. Beautiful routine! I learned it on Lee Asher and Paul Wilson's "Hit the Road." If you are interested in this plot I strongly suggest you check this out.
