Been ages lots of catching up to do, may even write a few essays for you guys when I get around to it, but for now I'm looking for a reference for this trick.

I cannot find the SAME trick in 13 Steps to Mentalism (especially the last part), well not that I can see anyways. If someone could please refer me to a book, dvd, etc. anything on this trick that would be greatly appreciated

Based on the thickness of card ESP cards (they look thicker than normal on the vid, but it is hard to tell). And the fact the back of the cards are blank, therefore not marked in any of the usual ways. Also the choices appear to be free choices which makes me think that he's using Sean Taylor's device, but its hard to be 100% sure.

Interesting, Yes I have seen it being performed twice, the first time he used thick cards (almost tile like), the second time was with seemingly blank card in the video. Any other possible reference or way of doing this without the $500 gimmick strapped to it?

Yes but it wont look exactly like how he did it.

Either you use a ESP stack with a whole deck of ESP cards (richard osterlind has some work on this).

Or use a marked deck of esp cards. I recommend the beyond esp 3 deck. But there are other marked decks around.

I'm sure with some clever thinking you can come up with another method since really there's only 5 possible solutions. Perhaps Four Told by Devin Knight is a alternative.

There are also some ways to force esp cards that use particular dealing procedures that can mimic is effect but wont look as clean.


Perhaps tricks like radar deck, breakthrough card stack, tossed out deck, minimax are non esp card alternatives for a similar style routine.

Oh something just came to mind. "Third Choice" which appears in 13 steps that richard osterlind does with ESP cards. Its more of a prediction effect, but has that 100% free choice feel to it.
