I assume you don't know much about SEO either if you're posting for help here, ha! :)

I agree with the sentiment of the above. If you don't want to share your site with your fellow magicians who want to help you, then it's probably not ready for prime time.

Actually I know quite a bit about sites and getting higher placement on search engines. However, since you are obviously ashamed of your site I see no reason to help.

SEO is constantly changing. Google had the new Panda & Penguin update so a lot of websites got hurt by it. SEO also takes time.

The key to SEO is backlinks. Backlinks are when another website links back to your website. The "better" the website, the "better" the backlink. If you get a backlink from Yahoo News then it's treated differently than if you got it from your friend's website.

To get backlinks, you can write an article and submit to article directories, you can comment on blog posts, and you can post in forums (use your website link in the signature form). However, with the update, Google is making article directories, etc almost pointless....because that is how everyone was gaming Google to begin with.

With the Panda & Penguin updates, it's important to be well-rounded. Google is really trying to push their Google+ network so if you get people to share your website on their Google+ page then you will get some "link juice" but you should also try to get people to share your site on any networking site.

If you're serious about "getting your website known" then you want to study SEO...not ask magicians.

Also, you're asking the wrong question. I'm assuming you want to get your website known...to get gigs? If you want to get gigs, you don't have to be number one on Google. You can use PPC and several other methods to book shows.

But even if your website is number one on Google for a keyword like "magician," if you don't have a website that converts visitors into clients then all your efforts mean very little. Your website must be created in a way that helps you get gigs.[edit]
