Check out the One-liners and outs section... there's lots of good advice on saving face in these sticky situations, without giving anything away.

There is a great trick that always leaves people guessing and they can examin all the cards afterwards in great detail as you have done away with the 'secret'

The trick is called Eye Popper and uses Bicycle cards - the effect is that a spectator is shown a mixed deck - the deck is split into two halves the spectator taking a card from their half, you then turn your back while they can place their card anywhere into your hal of the deck.

You simply riffle the deck while looking at it and you are able to name their card - they are shocked by this - you ask if they would like to know how the trick is done - and show them that all the other cards are blank except from theirs.

A real easy card trick that never fails - not sure if penguin stock it or not ?

The sponge balls, any card routine with a regular deck, color monte, also any coin routine with normal coins. Caution with the Scotch and Soda, If your coins are old, they may not be inspectable. There are tons of tricks out there that can be examined.

I have to disagree with rigid on the matchbox penetration, I busted the magic dealer trying to sell it to me easily. no offence intended rigid.
