the routine is done by a gray bearded man that hangs several american 1/2 dollar in thin air, then one by one plucks them of their invisable hooks and places them back into his pocket. I saw the demo at Al's magic shop in D.C. years ago. I belive it uses thread in some way.

the name of this routine or video would be very helpful

It's most likely David Roth's "Hanging Coins" routine.

Look at Roth's Hanging Coins from his book. Larry Jennings also has The Hook in the Classic Magic of Larry Jennings book.

Jennings' The Hook is a take on John Ramsay's The Hanging Coin Plot. I think if you google it, you should have no problem in finding resources. Jennings' method is not that difficult to learn, with a little practice and theatrics (acting is important to the trick)

Well at first I thought for sure that you were talking about the "silver dream" on E and how he "hung the coins on invisible hooks".

Excelent, thanks for the responces, although the trick I'm looking for has the coins literaly suspended in the air!

I'm guessing this might use thread and hook coins.

I'm sure it's Eugene Burger, I just can't seem to find the video.
