It looks an awful lot like an effect from Paul Harris' "Art of Astonishment," though I can't remember what the name of it is right now.

The part with the two cards is called Tensegrity and can be found on page 295 of volume 2 of the Art of Astonishment set.

The card box balance is not in AoA, but it's pretty easy to work out a method; in fact, his removal of the box at the end pretty much gives it away.

Tensegrity is also included in the True Astonishment set. The effect seems to be getting a lot of attention, which I think is kind of funny and says a lot about the "next big thing" syndrome and the way marketing works. Look around Penguin, and elsewhere on the web, for lists of people's favorite effects from the AoA books. You won't find Tensegrity on many lists, if at all. No one says, "Go buy volume 2 of AoA... it's got this awesome effect called 'Tensegrity'..."

But stick it in an over-hyped, expensive DVD set...
