There are several versions. The one most well known (and most heavily gimmicked) is Pavel's Walking Knot.

Heh... no.

Pavel's Super Walking Knot is available at various locations online for about $250. You can find a "simplified" version on Jeff Sheridan's Genius at Work DVD set, but it's not really the same.

it's a great effect...I saw Pavel do it live a while back...his gimmicked topes are VERY well made. I've been looking into purchasing this effect myself...only because I like it and it isn't done very much.

Pavel attaches the rope to two chairs on the stange and does it to music.

If you want Pavel's Walking Knot, you pay for Pavel's Walking Knot. You're asking about a piece of professional magic designed by a professional magician and marketed to professional magicians. If you can't afford it, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

If you want an inexpensive source of decent rope magic, get Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic or the Abbot Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks (Dover version, not the hardcover version). And, no, neither one contains Pavel's Walking Knot. But they both do contain some good rope material.

THis is correct...Pavel's products are pricey but EXTREMELY well made. The quality of his work is outstanding and he doest all the work by hand. You won't find any better gimmicked ropes.

I have two of his effects. One of which I do all the time.
