This is probably one of the worst demos I've seen for an effect.

It’s funny you should say that, because I watched the demo and immediately knew how the effect was done. So, after contemplating what else I would like to accomplish with a Card through Window effect I am more open to suggestions now than I was before. What I had wanted before was something I thought would be truly astonishing up close, but now I reverted to an old Card through Window, the one David Blaine performed on his first special, the one that was based upon a Bob Hummer concept. Very straight forward and to the point, I just wish I could have it signed, but something like a Card through Window effect still is strong enough to the audience that a signed card wouldn’t make too big of a deal at the end.

You might find this funny, but when I was watching the episode of House from Season 4 about the Magician. He did the Card through Window routine but what was stuck to the glass was the wrong card. So House goes up to remove it, and on the other side of the glass in the exact card House picked. It is another variation that I use, and I wanted to try some other variations so I have a total of 3 variations. But from what I’ve read, and also extensive research, it comes down to this one unless I can either come up with my own variation, or wait to find a real, proper Card through Window effect.

Effect: Two stunning glass penetration effects that look like trick photography!

'Dark as Night' is a coin through glass that would have looked at home in 'The Matrix'. A borrowed and signed coin is touched to the bottom of a drinking glass where, in a moment of pure visual clarity, it appears to melt through! The coin appears to be suspended inside the glass itself for a brief moment before it is pushed through to its inevitable conclusion on the inside. The signed coin is now inside the glass having visually made its impossible journey through the bottom. The glass is then immediately handed out – the coin still inside – there is nothing to find!*

'Clear as Day' is a perplexing coin through glass table effect – stunning in its simplicity! You take a coin and spin it on the surface of a glass table. You stop it spinning and then slowly, rub it through the glass! The hand that catches the coin under the glass is seen empty right before the penetration. Unlike most other coin through glass table effects – you won't see any rings on Alan's fingers! This is a real world solution to an incredibly visual effect!

'Card thru Table'
A card is freely selected and signed before being placed onto the 'soft spot' of a glass table. The pack is dribbled onto the signed card. When the dribbled cards are pushed aside, underneath we find the signed selection having somehow passed through the table top! Easy, amazing, impromptu card magic at its best!

'Coin thru Hand'
A cleverly constructed sequence which allows you to pass a coin through a spectators hand! First you pass a coin through your own hand – it gets stuck but you shake it out. Then you repeat it with a spectator’s hand. Again it gets stuck – with both your hands unmistakably empty you give the spectators hand a shake and out pops the coin into your awaiting hand!

Who is Alan Rorrison?

Among those with their ear to the ground, Alan is renowned as a creator of solid, commercial off-beat effects and is a magician who actually works his stuff in the real world. Alan used 'Clear as Day' at his residency in a night club for a number of years. The effect was specifically designed for the venue, being furnished with glass tables. After a renovation the glass tables suddenly disappeared and, still receiving requests for the 'coin thru glass' trick, Alan was forced to improvise and create the same effect without the table – 'Dark as Night' was born!

Alan's magic never fails to catch you out first time round (and second and third time round on most occasions!) and it is because he is unconstrained in his methods. 'Dark as Night' and 'Clear as Day' are two perfect examples of why Alan's magic receives high plaudits from working pro's the world over!

Now I must admit that the one I REALLY want to purchase, is Night and Day by Alan Rorrison. I really like the price and getting to do 4 effects that all sound truly astonishing. Only problem is this, I have never seen a review for it, a demo or any other type of visual demonstration.
As for the other one, I am truly “torn” between the other two, Daniel Garcia’s Torn and Making Amends by Wayne Fox. Decisions, decisions, what’s a wandering/close-up Magician to do?!

liquid is only good if ur spectators cant go to the other side of the window

Um, am I missing something?

I mean the Scraper video speaks for itself, it sucks.

Liquid is a great CTW, I mean first you penetrate the card and the spectator can help pull it through.

I mean it looks good if performed on a vending maching, airplane or glass elevator, card window a side that you cannot get as this helps sell the whole illusion in the spectator's mind.

Also, Liquid is such a great CTW, as I stated before, and you can perform it ANYWHERE...all you need is your gimmick and also it can be performed with a borrowed deck as well as be signed.

Also, name a CTW that you can perform on the situations I named above?

Also, you said that I said that Scraper sucks, which I did, but what are your thoughts about Scraper?

Well I have been doing a lot of browsing the web for either stand alone effects, books and/or DVD's that might have some hidden gem's that can only be found through intensive searching. All the while I'm doing this, a friend of mine sent me an e-mail with a link to a new effect over on another website entitled Window by David Stone. Now I don't have anything in my collection from David Stone, but after some more research I've come to find that he has some killer card effects amongst other close-up magic effects.

Now I am even more confused on what to buy that it's actually giving me a headache with all these choices!

If I could only go to my local Casino and see if I win some nice Jack Pot so I can just buy them all! That sure would eliminate all sorts of problems, too bad I'm not much of a gambler and never had much luck in Casinos anyway.

But to get back on topic, has anyone else seen David Stone's Window card effect? It's not too expensive, but then again it's not exactly something that I would normally spend around $70 dollars for a single effect. Unless I knew first hand that the effect is worth the asking price, then I wouldn't hesitate to purchase such an effect.

Looks like finding the right Card through Window effect that fits my style of performing has been the most challenging of any illusion I have wanted to add to my collection as well as routine.
