Hey
You know those matches they use in old cowboy movies? the ones they light just by rubbing them on jeans?
Anyone know where I might get those matches?

Light anywhere matches. Thats what they are called. That have a white "cap" on them, instead of being pure red. I know you can buy them in most stores in the US, im not sure about outside though.

I have heard that those matches are dangerous (even more so than normal matches). Because they require much less friction you can ignite them accidental and start a fire.

If Daniel can be trusted to shoot guns and throw hand grenades I'm sure he can handle strike anywhere matches without setting his barracks on fire.

I try to ALWAYS buy "strike anywhere" matches....have used them forever and have NEVER had them ignite....I burn wood for heat, have for years and they are just very handy for starting my fires....

The problem now is, many stores which used to carry them as normal stock are no longer carrying them, probably part of one of the many "save us from ourselves" causes....whenever I see them I buy a few boxes.

They also last longer than the "strike on box" matches which are USELESS once they get just a little damp.

Another thought...In Walmarts camping section...they also have strike-anywhere...with the "bonus" of being water proof :) (wax coated)
