the johnson cups and balls are fantastic. by far the best i have found. however, they are close to two hundred dollars, so for now i am using a standard aluminum set.

Believe it or not, the pretty and expensive cups don't do the magic...the performer does! A good magician can take a set of the Two Dollar and Ninety Nine Cent cups that Penguin sells and perform just as an astonishing routine as with a set of pretty expensive cups. The pretty, expensive cups don't mean a thing, all they are is window dressing. For routines check out Penguins Cups and Ball Book.

you can do the cups and balls with any cups and any balls (that are the right size). i once did ammar's cups and balls at school with paper cups and crumbled up paper. lance burton uses coffee mugs. if you look around on the internet, you can find some good info on starting a routine. if you want a book, i would recommend michael ammar's book. i dont have it, but i have looked through it and it has some great material. email me at jrufl@yahoo.com if you have any more questions

There are tons of versions and different routines with some pretty orignal final loads. They are all in books and videos.

Yeah, I remember that trick. I had a teacher in 3rd grade (thats a long time ago) and he always do awsome magic to us from time to time, and on one occasion day, he taught the class how to do magic and one of the magic is cups and balls. But ofcourse the class of 30 kids obviously used foam cups, but its quite fascinating. those were the days.

Not all cups are the same. For example, in some ways the styrofoam cups are better than the typical paper or plastic cups beacuse they have a rim around the lip of the cup that causes a gap between the cup bottoms when they are stacked. You can do a sweet routine just using dixie cups and cotton balls, but a nicer set of cups will allow tyou to pump up the effect with some flourishes and other illusions that just aren't possible with paper/plastic/foam cups. I've seen some nice polished aluminum cups online for 13 bucks right here at Penguin Magic!. Hope this helps, Rob

A great place to find a cups and balls routine is Now You see It Now You Dont (its a great book) it teaches all the basic moves and then teaches you the whole routine and has a really cool finish (well at least for me, i had the book for a while and just started learning the cups and balls)
