Get a book called Scripting Magic. It's amazing and has interviews with Eugene Burger, Jami Ian Swiss, and numerous others that have great information to share with people wanting to right their own presentations.

To really have that effect I suggest just one stick of dynamite under each chair. That will really blow their a$$es off. However to do it magically it doesn't matter what trick you dom it's how well you perform the trick. If you take a trick, personalize it and get patter that fits YOUR personality that turns it into an effect which will amaze the audience.

I made my own Pop Haydn Teleportation Device http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdWSEi--Nec out of a Cheerios box and a RC glowplug, put on a labcoat and a phony southern drawl and promptly killed the house... it's all about finding your own anchor, I've been doing Oz's double lifts for years without response until I added Doc Eason's "Kate and Edith" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBqGoY_IAzM routine, it's amazing what memorizing a bit of poetry and some doublestick tape can do for your reputation...

Stigmata, stigmata, stigmata.... one of my personal favorites (if not my favorite). I'm asked to this one all the time. I have even gotten to the point of being able to do the "secret" move in mid patter w/o being caught. I can't recommend this more.

These are the effects that I have performed which really gave me more noticeably powerful reactions.

Signed Quarter in Soda Can
Liquid Metal
Control
Tagged (both from Richard Sanders and Rich Ferguson, though mostly the Rich Ferguson Tagged effect)
Fresh Mint (the original method and Minted version)
