Hey guys!

So I recently posted an ad on craigslist looking for a website designer. I found a student who would be willing to make it just for the experience of it (so I wouldn't have to pay him) however he said I would need to host the site myself. I figured this so I am looking up hosting sites. Right now I am leaning towards godaddy.com because it fits my price budget (10 bucks/year 2 bucks to register a domain name). Has anyone had any luck with godaddy? is there another hosting site you'd recommend more?

Thanks!

~Josh

Stay away from Godaddy! High prices and poor tech support. The prices you quote are simply to register the name, not host any pages. Once you get in and actually use the site you'll find it's very confusing to manage, taking you way too long to do even the simplest of tasks.

http://www.lunarpages.com is where I host all my sites, including all of Whit Haydn's School for Scoundrels sites.

If your website isn't going to be huge, and therefore you don't need particularly heavy bandwidth requirements, an option open to you is to buy a domain name like you usually would, but use 000webhost.com to host the pages. They offer a very good basic hosting package for free and without adverts; it's what I currently use for my site.

I bought the domain from GoDaddy.

Note you need a Domain Name + Web Hosting. Not just the domain name.

I designed my site and I use www.webs.com for my host. It's an easy service to use and it provides you with hundreds of templates that you can customize to fit your needs. If you sign up for one of their premium packages you will get plenty of space, a domain name and hosting for a great price...I think it's $50 per year.

I had my site designed by a pro about 10 yrs ago, it cost me $100 a page for the work (6 pages.) I am still listed number 1 at Google and still get jobs from the site. We just did a job Sat for kids from foster homes, the OH state agency booked us. Whben I asked how they found us she replied;
"your website. I looked thru about 10 sites and yours was professional. By the way, you are very professional and you're booked for next year too, we'll call you with the date as soon as it's determined."

As I said, cost us $600 10 years ago and I KNOW we've made between $20,000 to 30,000 just from the site over the years. Make sure your site look EXCELLENT, if you can't do it yourself, pay for it to be done right for you.

Paddy,

What is your site url? I would love to see the kind of design that can generate that kind of money.

Thanks

If you use the code Pogo6 at Go Daddy then you will get 20 percent off. Just in case you decided on that.
