I have some last minute questions.

1. Do you know if The Manchurian Approach will work in Australian DVD players? I have a PS3 if that means anything new to the situation.

2. I am new to mentalism. Do you think it would be better to get 13 Steps to Mentalism by Corinda or Practical Mental Magic? I have heard good things from both but I have recently heard that Practical Mental Magic may be a better place to start.

And finally, does penguin magic sell normal playing bicycle cards (red or blue back)? They don't sell them cheap in Australia and I could only find yellow backed ones using the search function.

1. All magic DVDs are region 0, meaning they can be played anywhere.

What did you put into the search box? Try "bicycle", for example.

Thanks for your reply. I feel like an idiot now you mention just typing "bicycle". I tried "bicycle red back" etc and that brought up a long list of magic tricks...

Penguin's search engine is funny that way. It shows each search term as an individual word match, not a phrase. So, if you search for Bicycle you'll get pretty much every card trick ever sold made with Bicycle playing cards. Adding to the search terms doesn't narrow the search, it just adds to the confusion.

On the other hand... I just searched for Bicycle Deck and the first two search terms were for a standard blue deck and a standard red deck. Go figure.

Get the 13 steps. It is THE place to start with mentalism, manchurian approach is awesome but you'll only learn hypnosis, not the basic principles of mentalism.
