hey guys I have a gig next week and I wanted to run some effects by you to see what you think. I will be signing and magishing at the same time so I want to do some effects that don't necessarily require both my of my hands to perform.

here is what I have so far:

Chicago Opener
Fiber Optics
Mismade Bill
Liquid Metal
Pressure
D'lites
Extreme Burn 2.0
French Kiss
Identity
Card to Pocket

If anyone has any other ideas let me know

the effect "Silent Treatment" (I think by Jon Allen) should be good here.

(Helpful post #30 out of over 325 total posts - plus the 100 or so posts which have been deleted)

Zenn, I have done several shows for deaf kids. I sign myself but found it much better to have an interpreter signing for you. True story, during a show I screwed up one effect and just muttered to myself "Don't you love it when you make a fool of yourself" She signed it so everybody caught it. Biggest laugh of the show.

I love working with deaf kids but you have to be very careful when doing slights, they are trained to watch your hands for the tinyest movements.

Thanks Paddy! Yeah the gig is at my old HS. My old ASL teacher has a fair she throws every year for her ASL students plus members at school who are deaf or have deaf family members. I'm thinking that maybe 2/3rds of my audience will be deaf. I'll be signing by myself and I will prob be voicing as well for those who can hear.

Yeah I def realized that last time I performed for someone who was deaf that they pick up on EVERYTHING... thats why I'm trying to find some effects that don't require any crazy sleights or misdirection

Add in some coin magic. That hardly needs any scripting, coin goes from this hand to your hand, blah blah. Can you classic palm well? Coins across into their hand is huge.
