I am interested in learning how to regurgitate an object in case I need it sometime. I have search Google, PenguinMagic, tried TheMagicCafe (but their search bar is all screwed up). I have not been able to find a good source. Can anyone point me in a good direction or give me some advice? It would be greatly appreciated. I know that Houdini learned by swallowing an object attached to a thread then pulling it back up, to get used to the feeling. Also, does anyone know of any bad side effects, besides the obvious (choking)?
Thank you, Drew

You might find something like that in Swami Mantra. Personally I am too much of a pragmatist to ever see the use in actually doing something like that. There are to many sleight of hand techniques that will deliver the exact same effect to the audience that you can learn in 1/2 the time and are much safer.

There is a book i used to read as a kid called "Memoirs of a Sword Swallower" and in it he dabbles in the regurgitating thing.
He used the method you have already written about, he would tie a piece of FOOD (thats a good thing to take note of) to it and pull it up while trying to force it up with his stomach muscles and so on.

I know a couple of bulimics who can do it on command simply by thinking about it but i would suggest the first method of practise. :P

Just while that reminds me, pulling something up passed your gag reflex will often make one vomit by default, for this reason i would suggest having a completely empty stomach before attempting your practise. Side effects of stomach acid coming up in this way include loss of tooth enamel (not a good look) and tears in the eosaphagus (not a good feeling) and many more.

Keep us posted.

Instead of a completely empty stomach, try eating one or two tums as well, to reduce the pH of any acid that does come up.

Thanks everyone for responding. I think I might just go with eostresh and just use sleight of hand instead of risking it with all the possible side effects. But I'll keep all the suggestions in mind.
Thanks, Drew

HAHAHA, yes, I suppose it is a much more sensible idea.
