Dear All, I was wondering about magic at a distance...which tricks work best when you can't see the person and your locations are different? I am someone who travels alot and would like to have something that I can 'perform' while I am away from friends / family...

For me that answer is yes.

I'd try mentalism. I'm sure there are some effects you can do over the phone. Sadly this is outside my expertise.

Magic is a visual, auditory art. Why even try to perform when the audience is distant.

Most mentalism/magic that you do at a distance isn't nearly as impressive if you can do it in person. But there are a few things you can do at a distance which are great. One of them is called Thought Chunnel by Joshua Quinn (it is in his Paralies book)

Basically, someone thinks of a word and you have them go through a process in their head and they end up with a completely different word. You then tell them what it is. Nothing is written down but you can still tell them what they're thinking of.

You should also look for Patrick Redford's book called Heptagon. I believe it has a ton of effects you can do over the phone

For some reason the two times I have tried Thought Chunnel the spectator got to a European country and thought of Estonia! Never the less it is a decent effect....in theory!
