First of all, I love this gimmick. I use it all the time and it floors people. I now use it in conjunction with Sankey's Insider as a closer and its fantastic.

However....

Does anyone out there know how to do the tear without the gimmick?? I remember back in the days when cooperfield did the tear cleanly with just the card and produce it CTW style on the train.

Not sure if I'm giving away too much info on the gimmick/method. Let me know.

Regarding your question about a way "to do the tear without the gimmick"; in his 'History of the Intercessor' talk during EMC 2012, Gaëtan Bloom gives a way to avoid doing the 'dirty work' in front of the audience but you DO need the gimmick.
