Who performes the chop cup at tables? If so how long is your routine?

I perform a chop cup routine using a jigger (non gimmicked). It's actually not that lengthy but there are a few steps involved. I've never timed it, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's only about 1 minute to 1 and 1/2 minutes long. I could be wrong about the length of time. Since I do it table-side at restaurants there is always a time constraint since you don't want to perform once the food arrives.

It is a variation of Jiggernaut which I haven't actually seen, but some of the concepts are the same.

I start with the Jigger and a crochet (sp) ball from the cups and balls. I show the ball disappear from the air and show up under the jigger. I repeat that again. The third time I put the ball in the top and say that it will show up underneath the jigger almost instantly. As I turn the jigger over, dumping the ball into my other hand, the ball immediately rolls out from the bottom. I then show that the hand, in which I dumped the ball from the jigger, is empty. At this point I put the ball in my pocket and the ball comes back under the cup. Next, I put the ball back in the pocket and a wine cork shows up under the jigger. I repeat to produce 2 more wine corks and throw out the "corky" jokes about this getting really "corky".

This gets great reactions.

My ungimmicked chop cup routine is less that 2 minutes long. It includes a couple ball vanishes and the surprise load of two larger balls. This is a great effect, but don't string it out too long or you will bore the audience. They do not need to see the ball vanicsh 15 times! Short and sweet has a bigger impact.

I don't (currently) perform Chop Cup in restraunts, however look into Martin Sanderson's Work. On his DVD 'Corporate Close Up' he explains a Chop Cup routine completly in the Spectators hands, and in his latest DVD 'The Business' he explains the 'Impromptu Chop Cup' using a Paper Cup and a creamer.

the length really depends. it can be as short as a minute or i can make it go as long as 5-6 minutes. same routine with the only 5 phases each time. it all depends on the table. if i'm having fun with the table and talking to them then the chop cup might be the only trick i do because it lasts so long. you have to remember the effect is just a tool that we as magicians are using. you want the spectators to remember you, not the effect.

The best chop cup I think is Kiss Off by Gregory Wilson. It uses a Hershey's chocolate syrup can and Hershey kisses. The only place I was able to find it was here:

When I'm doing walkaround, I usually do the Chop Cup. It is usually 2mins or so long. It's quite a basic routine, with the ball reappering etc, and then a final load. I usualy do this entire routine in my (and specs) hands.
