so i was just wondering if there is any other trick which you would all

You are NOT EVEN CLOSE to being ready for restaurants. You have never even seen a restaurant magician but you want to be one. Reminds me of the old joke "A week ago I cudn't spel techer and today I are one."

you named just about everything id use in the restaurant situation.

I really want to get into restaunt magic, and it would help me so much if I could see a pro restruant magician in action. The problem is that I don't know of any in my area (the Dallas Texas area). Do any of ya'll have any suggestions?

Sponge balls
coins
spoon bending

Dallas has enough restaurant magicians that it is no problem to find one. Go to your local ring (IBM) or assembly (SAM) meeting and ask them. Someone there will be a restaurant worker.

Look up the infor for the local rings or assemblies by going to the IBM or SAM sites and they will refer you to the locals. Use GOOGLE. If you don't know about the IBM or SAM, you are not ready to perform anywhere.

I don't believe that you'll get much helpful advice after resorting to name calling. In your original post, you say: "Card Magic is rubbish!" Yet, I believe that there are enough card effects available to absolutely stun restaurant patrons. You also do not wish to perform any magic with coins, sponge balls or bending spoons. That's fine, there is a huge amount of material out there that requires none of what's on your list. The real trick is to discover the Magic by yourself. Since you've seen fit to disrepect those who have posted previously, I'm recomending to all others who read this post...remain silent.

i got a spell check to stop them moaning and they still do

well iv been performing with them for around 5 years now and neither me or my audience are bored of them.

Crag,, Yes I am the one that bitched about your spelling. Your misspelling and your complete lack of grammar rules and respect for us indicate that you are just a kid who is 1. too young, and 2 too immature to be doing restaurant work.

By the way, I am married (have been to several women,) have kids, grand kids, and great grandkids. Ergo (a little Latin lingo there) I am not Edited. Your calling me Edited has urinated me off enough so that when I see you have a question, I will make sure that I do not help you in any way.

Perfect everything you've got! Get some book's on the close up stuff and see what you can get out of it, that is probly the best advice that you are going to get!

Craig, I honestly believe that your Spell Check is not working properly, as you have misspelled, again. However, I'm not here to condemn you for those mistakes.

Twice you have posted that you are bored of cards. If you truly want to work in Restaurants, you need to be excited about every phase of Magic you perform. Otherwise, (sadly) your boredom will no doubt be evident to your audience.

Landing a walk-around gig at a restaurant, is an honor and a blessing. I urge you to rethink your outlook on Card Magic. At the same time, be humble to accept criticism.

As for alternatives to your list, I can think of many:

1. Ropes
2. Silks
3. Mentalism
4. Finger Rings

The list goes on and on...You will need to do your own research to find out what you like best. We can't spoon feed you. Pick something that you can get "into", practice well and perform your magic with confidence and with the deserved respect, it requires. Only then...will you, shine.
