My favorite place in the world to perform at is Hooters. I chose this place because the girls there just give me the best reactions I've ever gotten. They will run and scream and get other waitresses to come watch you. The atmosphere at Hooters is also perfect, laid back and open to anything. I have also had patrons of the restaurant come and ask me to show them somthing. Some of the waitresses even got their manager out to watch and told him to give me a job(I declined). You will be doing magic there all night so have lots of good close up effects and have them down so good you could do them over and over in front of some of the same people. GOOD LUCK!!!

God Bless you cheerguy05. It's about time I heard some excellent advice on these messagebaords rather then people asking to review a trick out of the review section. I salute you my friend and I salute Hooters!

Do you find it difficult to find a private place to reload? Even the simplest tricks (scotch and soda, color changing discs, twisted sisters) require a short reset. The problem I have in busy places is that its hard to find time to reset. Also, you have people follow you around and see a trick performed multiple times and could potentially figure it out. Any suggestions?

mfreno - If you are doing walk-around magic, you should really try to use tricks that reset automatically. Unfortunately, this really does limit the number and types of tricks available. The only other alternative is to periodically go to the bathroom. But if you do this too often, people might get a strange idea about you - lol.

I find Hooters to be a bit too distracting to work well. Everyone there is more into "other things" rather than magic. Unfortunately, Im ill-equipped to perform the kind of show most Hooters patrons want to enjoy. I do find the Joe's Crab Shack is an excellent place to work. The atmosphere is great, the people are generally nice, and its a fun environment...perfect for a magician. And because the restaurants theme is fun and different, it makes perfect sense to find a magician lingering about.

I don't perform for the patrons, I perform for who is important, the waitresses. Reseting tricks isn't very hard. I perform Twisted Sisters there 5 times a night. Since I perfrom for the waitresses they have other things to attend to, the customers, so the second they turn around RESET. Tricks i use are quick and to the point, 2 & 3 card monte, rising card, twisted sisters, the invisible deck, and almost any PK effect, esspecially making a chicken bone move. Hooters does have great wings. Joe's is an excellent idea. I will have to try that B_magic.

Several of you have mentioned different places. Consider "Olive Garden" -good ambience- better heeled patrons, and if you work for tips, larger tips. But don't take a tip if your receiving $$ from the restaurant!
