Hey guys,
I am 13 years old and ive been doing magic for about a year now. I am thinking about the future part time jobs i should have and i was wondering," Would i get the most out of my magic experience and the most money doing resturant magic or street magic?"
Thanks for the advice!
-Chris

I doubt you will get any job at a resturaunt. First, you are too young (to legally work, you have to be of a certain age. I believe at 14 you can work, but at very selective places, and you have to get a workers permit. Also, I beleive if you end up having bad grades, you will then be fired. You can also only work between certain hours, and so many hours a week. At 16, you get a little more oppurtunities. Then at 18, you can work basically anywhere). So resturaunt work is probably out of the question, since you can't legally work at one.

Now street magic, do you mean like what Blaine does (Blaining) or busking? Doing what Blaine does, you really won't make much money. You probably won't make any. You may have a chance to make some money from busking though, but before you can even get into that, you have to do your research, and still, it may not pay off well since you are so young. Your best bet would probably be doing kids parties.

Young does not hurt busking. It actually helps.
Kodster is a decent performer, not taking anything away from him he's very good but other guys do a better show, and he does pretty well because he is so young (maybe not to young now).

Busking is just performing on the street. It's kind of like a parlour show that's taken to the street.

Here's the definition of a busker from one of Gazzo's books: any performer who works on the street and passes the hat for money. (If you work the street for cash and don't have a hat... you're probably a hooker.)

Before getting into busking though, you have to do your research. Gazzo has a couple of books on the subject. Cellini has a video on the subject. There are some very good posts here on the subject as well.

Just don't think of Blaine or Angel as doing street. They're as far from "street" magicians as really anyone can get.

Think Dante, Danny Hustle, DaveV, Gazzo, (and look outside magicians to other variety street acts as well)
