i was thinking of doing restaurant magic but then im kinda small for my age (13) and i have common sense, because adults just wont take kids seriously and i dont want my magic to look like a gimmick

i donno about the adults here but say u were an aldult who ddnt do magic and a kid was entertaining for you, would you be amazed or would you still think its kool but not really care i personally wouldnt care.

I'm sorry to say but I would still think a 13 year old doing magic would be cute but I would not take him seriouslly.

I agree with space_ghost. Practice for atleast 3 more years, and then think about getting a resturaunt job.

start doing some kids parties for friends, or perform at family or office parties, people see that you aren't just a kid and want you to perform again.

One other thing that I didn't mention earlier, that is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY is your personality. Not only do you have to be good with your tricks (i.e. sleights, patter, concealments,etc.), but you also need to know what to say in between tricks. You have to be funny and have a response for any situation. The way I look at it is, not only are you a magician, you are also a comedian. This is not true with all magic, BUT it is very true for restaurant magic. My suggestion for you would be to pick up some books on one liners, jokes, situational humor and all of that junk.(very important junk).
