I love how you guys go from bashing him to idolizing him.

Fred, there are so many kids pretending they know magic on these forums that when someone posts a vid of himself actually performing it is a revelation.

At first we all thought it was the usual bull sh$t but from the vid he actually knows what he's talking about. So yes, I'll say it, he's good.

No one is idolizing or bashing him. Paddy has a "tough love" style of advice that people get offended at. I think he might hold the record for making the most people quit Penguin Forums  . kallx at first seemed like the typical person who thinks they're ready for restaurants right away that we see here, but now we see that he isn't like that. I was one of them a few years ago, then paddy, fallingblood, and DavidTheCryptic showed me how foolish I was. I've read about restaurant performing extensively and still don't think I'm ready.

It's just the way the veterans operate here, and I think it works to keep out people who aren't ready.

After reviewing the thread, the veterans went from being slightly abrasive to respecting him. The other users were meaner, then nicer than the vets, perhaps because they were trying to look cool.

In addition to what I've already posted, add two more to my "faves" list that I've just started working into my walk-around over the last couple of weeks:

1. Bye George. (Kills every time.)
2. Mental Photography Deck. (Again, kills every time.)

Mental Photography is awesome. It's so much fun, I entertain myself when playing with it.

I know that sounded bad, let's hope magikrn doesn't see that.

Yes I always point out things like that. The reason is very simple. Magic relies on watching the little details. things like where you are looking when doing a vanish because the spectator will look where you do.

Communication relies on details also. Spelling, capitalization and grammar rules allow us to know what you are writing about. If one is too lazy to run spell check then how can that person spend the time and effort to perform magic?

Our art is just that, an art. it is not buying 3 gimmicks and then going out and trying to entertain in a restaurant. Those who are lazy will only make a bad impression that hurts our reputation as magicians being performing artists.
