I'm seriously thinking of getting into returant work. Here are my ideas for several routines, that way if people come back I'll have different tricks for them. Whatda ya think? Anything I need to add or take away? Feel free to Mix and Match

Routine 1:
Coin appearence
Toll Free (repeated coin appearence from "On the Spot")
Spongeballs routine
Biddle trick (from "Inside Magic"-Ellusionist)
Torn and restored card (I actually eat the card)

Routine 2:
*Stand-up Monte
*Cups and Balls routine
*Paperclip thru arm-Shock FX (tuck arm in close so other tables can't see. I can use the restaunt's towlets I they have any)
*Glossy Finish (Lipstick penetration for "On the Spot")
*Card-toon

Routine 3:
Questionable trick (Copper-Silver transpo. from "On the Spot")
2 card monte
Burnt card on arm
Stealth Pen
Coinbite

Routine 4:
Napkin Spongeballs routine
Scotch and Soda
Jiggernaught
Presto Printo
Card in Mouth

Anyone at all?

Well those are all good tricks. Lose the cup and balls because of space, and paperclip through arm because ITS A RESTAURANT DUDE! Other than that, good stuff. You don't really have any routines going on here, just a compilation of random tricks. So I don't really see what your asking. Most of these "routines" that you have you wont finish anyway...they are way too long for a restaurant worker.


Anyway, you really don't have routines going on here...so there's nothing really for me to answer, except you got some decent magic here, and good luck to ya!

I have found out for myself that fast tricks a tables is better then doing something like the Watch Crystal. Tricks that take to long lose value time of getting to the next table. Cups & balls wont work like Bmagic said you need room on the table and sometimes its hard enough trying to make room for some card tricks.
If your packing your tricks on you then I would use 1 reg deck of cards, 1 sevg deck, ring & string, some good coin effects, Twilight angels, a few packet tricks like color monte and ult monte, some TT tricks and dont forget Slither. With a line up like this you can amaze a table fast, get the tip and move to the next table.
You do have some good magic and I hope you find some good restaurant work. Good luck.....

As much as I LOVE bizzare magic there are alot of people who don't want to see paper clip thru arm right before they eat, Be careful with that one. Just my 2 cents. Mick.

I have a question. In restaurant magic are the best tricks, tricks that are card packets?

I agree with Syntax5. You might want to dwindle some of those routines into 2 or 3 tricks. Remember that you're trying to "turn" that table as quickly as possible. I find it better when you do only 2 or 3 tricks that blend together.

Can someone like B_magic or Syntax5 look at the tricks I have up there and put me together a few routines then? PLEASE!!!!

Your routines you got to make up for yourself, my friend. Someone really can't do it for you, since its all about your performance, your style, your way of doing things. The only thing I can suggest is narrow your routines down to about 2 or 3 things, and if your going to do one-type don't do another type in the same routine unless it links somehow (for instance, don't do a coin trick then end with a card on arm trick). If you decide to mix em up though (sometimes I do that), make sure you follow a chronological order (i.e., basically do the most "wow" effect last). You want to do magic, do it fairly fast (don't have time to do a lot of tricks at one table most of the time) and you want to leave them with their tongues hanging out.


That's my advice...the rest I leave to you.

^ Perfectly said. Not everyone has the same style of performance. Some people like to be comedic about things, others go for the more serious side of magic, and other are in between. It all depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it.
