are the AoA books good for restaurant?

also im thijnking of purchasing:

bottled up
healed and sealed
blizzard
pyro perception
invisible deck

are they worth buying for restaurant work?

i also have lots of sleight of hand card and coin work

please help

I didn't like the AOA books as much as I thought. That said, there are some great things you can do from them...and I've never had a book that was a BAD investment. So if it looks good to you, I'd say go for it.

Bottled up---good trick, not good for restaurant work at all.
Healed and Sealed---also not good for restaurant work (except in venues that use cans for beer, and even then I wouldn't do it)
Blizzard---I dont know...I don't have it.
PyroPerception/Invisible Deck---definately get them


Sleight of hand/coin work will be your most valuable tools in the restaurant scene.

Yep, Pyro Perception and Invisible Deck are good for restaurant work. For coin magic resources, I would get Bobo's Modern Coin Magic, or Ammar's Complete Introduction to Coin Magic. Those will both help you out and you will find tons of stuff in there that you will use. Royal Road and Card College are good books for cards and also the Easy To Master Card Miracles video series is good. Other good things for restaurant work are the 3 in 1 quarter, Stealth Pen, and also Rubber Band tricks are good to know when you work a restaurant.

Yes, B Magic gave some good advice. I will just fill in the one thing no one has. Blizzard is NOT a good restaurant trick. I'm not saying this from experience or anything, but it would not be good because it needs to be reset, it packs kind of big, and people that you already showed it to would watch you do it for someone else and figure it out. However, I do like the trick. Just not good for restaurants

I only have vol.3 AOA (just to learn the Hot Shot Cut, really). I wasn't too keen on the book and haven't gotten another one. I mean, all books are useful in some way or another, and no book is a "terrible" investment, but I just didn't like AOA very much...or perhaps I found it to be the least useful.


So, unfortunately, I cannot recommend anything from those books as good restaurant material, as I honestly wouldn't know (except the Hot Shot Cut, which is great).

The art of astonishment books are excellent. Learn "The shape of Astonishment" if your restaurant uses foil with their "to go" packages.

Free Ride -this is great for working in packets with the rest of the deck.

the cellophane trick.. I'm not sure what the real title is, but those that read the entire book know, this trick rocks with a cigarette pack from a spectator.
