hi, me and my friend are thinking about starting restaurant entertainment over xmas. we're 15, and so it'll probably be harder for us to get a job, but we are good enough magicians. any advice about how to approach buisnesses? any other tips would be appreciated, thanks

there has been a lot of tips given, just look around this section of the forum and you'll quite a bit.

3 year vet.

1. Try to find one with a kids night( it is easer to get work if that is the case)

2. Meet the Manager or GM

3. Tell him that you are a table-side magician and would like a chance to give your magic a try in the spot.

4. Tell him you will do the first night for a FREE meal.

5. If he likes you and the reaction of the people we'll talk money.

6. Have at least 15 mins worth of a ruteen just in case per table

PS ballons are a good plus (animals)

good idea... most ppl suggest a completely free night, but a little food wouldnt hurt lol...

Jim Pace has a good book on getting restaurant work... I'm reading it now in fact... I'll post a review soon to let u know how good it really is...

i approached my job by demoing a couple of my strongest tricks and then saying he didn't have to ay me with anything but meals forever, i would just get paid off of tips, and it works. i get about $100 in tips every 6 hours i decide to go there. but i can only go on weekends cuz i'm only 11

speaking of log fire, I go to caribou coffee and perform...no one pays me, although I get free coffee, but i do get tips. Often times I juggle outside the store, if its a nice night.

erm well i dont really have a rotinue sorry i know many ppl dissagree with me and say i should but i dont as i like to be spontainos

its gets ppl more happy i say and yer act dont become boring and dry and i think the mangaer prefers his costermers to be seeing diff tricks instead of the same one over and over again what a bore

i know some tricks i will never get rid of like club sandwich

but if u use this trick get versitile monte ime not gonna tell u the shop but pm if u want it ( u get to print yer own cards onto balnk *both sides* bicycle cards)..i have whole deck of gimmicked jokers yay

anyway twisted sisters is good but keep it away from other tables and do it one evry 3 days ect as this is a great trick but can be sussed out easily if u do it twice on same person on same night..i usally do this when ppl have a bit of alcahol in them that makes them freak lol

erm quick trick and the dailey show i cant advise these enoth

i mean i work in a nice restraunt in england as i said with a lovely log fire and the tables are nice wood oak and i lay my working mat on them so i can perfrom

i have the english version of scotch and soda with a pound and a 1 pence coin

erm i aslo have ultamate 50p coin which is a flipper...bender...can go in bottles...be bitten...ripped...ect ect

i have books on cards i like to do non gimmicked tricks but a svengali deck is a good thing to carry about

erm last thing mabie healed and sealed on one table mabie good.....oir in a flash by jay sankey....OH get sankeys 3 ring circus great for table work yes yes yes!

last thing masters time mashine is good...thats is some thing u shoudl carry around or pardox watch.....both are good but i have both lol

anyway its nice there...its friendly and i just love working to entertain and do magic...add some comedy.....once i was at a table of women and i said this....(i was doing dailey show)

i said women are like a pack of cards

i showed em the hearts and said u need hearts to love her

then i did the stwichy thingy and the hearts ended up on top and i reveled the diamons saying u needed these to marry her

later on i reaveled the clubs this is where it got funny..i throt so

i said u need clubs to kill her

and spades to bury her...they laughed!
