Hey guys (and gals) I just landed my first restaurant gig and I have a question. I have been doing magic for many years now and perform on the street, which has it's own style. A restaurant owner asked me to perform in her restaurants in NYC - she owns 3 - and suggested that I could do a show. Now, doing table hopping is fine, but was wondering what effects you would suggest to do as a dinner show? The close-up repetoir I have may need some additions that are stage in setting, but I don't know which would be good for a resaurant.

Any advice or ideas would help

i would HIGHLY recommend getting On the Loose with Bill Malone dvd's. all r totally awsome, i personally use 90% of the tricks there. it has a great "bill in lemon" routine that can be done on stage easy!!! also, he does the BEST invisible deck i have ever seen!!!
instead of OtL i would recommend getting a TT (TT) if u don't already have one.
u can also get the "Art of Card Manipulation". it has really great reviews on it, getting it myself now. it takes a lot of practice, but people say it's totally worth it.
problem is that the new stage magic effects r big and gimmiks, which i really hate. i love examinable stuff, not the big stuff...
u can also take the new escaping dvd's (vols 1-3 i think), that inculde escaping from chians, ropes, etc... those stuff r not my style, but maybe u'll like em...

i hope this helps a bit, i can only recommend 100% on OtL coz i have it myself, but i heard the other stuff is great too, if ur'e into those kind of things.

Thanks for your response. I will buy OTL today and ON the spot by Gregory Wilson. I have enough card tricks in my bag, so I am trying to stat away from more card effects and move to other objects.
