Well, i went for it this past Saturday at my local Outback Steakhouse. I talked to the general manager and she said she was very much open to the idea. I would have gladly given a sample, but she seemed very busy. However, she said i should take it up with the real manager who will be back Thursday. I'm talkin to him in a few days...Wish me luck!

-Ari-

P.S: Don't worry, i've been planning out my routines for a few months and i am fully ready for this job. Thanks to those who reply.

"Pick a card. Okay sign it. Place it in the deck. And BOOM!....The card is gone." Walk away."Enjoy your meal." LAter, while they're eating, they start choking and pass out. when the medics arrive, they give him the heimlic and out comes the signed card. Everyone else is impressed but him.

I don't know. I just thought of that. Good job with it if you do.

Ok, it's the outback in Orange CT, next to the movie theaters. Yes, i went at a very reasonable time, 2:30. They were STILL busy, i mean, who eats lunch/dinner at 2:30??

My routines: 1. Quick Silver
2. Lazy Man's Card Trick
3. B-2 Bomber

2.
1. Coins from Spectator's hands
2. Card to Mouth
3. Torn/Restored Card

3.
1. Questionable Trick
2. Back in Time
Card Warp

4.
1. Sponges
2. Another Quick Coincidence
3. Insurance Policy (Bonus affect for etmcmvol.1)

Routine #4 is for tables with kids, don't worry, i'll alter it if there are tables with kids close to eachother.

Thanks for the responses, keep em comin!

Card to mouth is no good in a restaurant. You just can't do things like this in a place where people eat and they don't know you. How long have you been doing restaurants?

This is my first time doing resturaunts.

What makes u think card to mouth is no good? I don't get it! It's an awesome affect, it doesn't come out of my mouth with saliva dripping from it or anything. The effect is that it's lost in the pack but somehow magicaly appears hanging out of my mouth. If your gonna criticize my routines, please say WHY! The fact that people may or may not know me has nothing to do with a trick! I don't understand, please explain!?!?

P.S: 300th POST!!!! woooooohoooooo

Some effects that are awesome and get good reactions are different when they get around food. You really want to choose routines carefully in a restaurant. People don't want to see you pulling a saliva-covered card out of your mouth when they're about to eat. You said that yours isn't too bad, but many people are very germ-conscious, and get concerned if the hands go near the mouth, and then interact with the specs. I personally love to do mouth coils, but I wouldn't do that routine in a restaurant.

he said the card is hanging from his lip. no saliva. none. unless he has spit resting on his lips, if so, seek medical attention.

i would HIGHLY recommend getting On the Loose with Bill Malone!!! i think it would help u a lot, because of the tips and the tricks, all r good for restaurants!!! i perform 95% of them in my performences, the 5% is only because i don't have the gimmiks needed for them, but i'll buy them.
i think ur routines r good, but 2 tricks r not enough for a routine in my opinion, u'll need at least 3. the 1st can be a quick visual effect, something from the following maybe:

TT-with a napkin, handkerchief, or whatever...
sponge ball-put one in ur hand, make in apear in the spectators ear
quick trick (card trick)

just something like that, thats only to get their attention. now u can do whatever u feel is right at the moment, like if u did quick trick, maybe u would want to do something that is without cards...

as a closer u should do something to close the routine, u could either do something that envolves the last 2 tricks u did, lets say u did cards and coins, then u could do a matrix trick. i think the best way though, is to go with something they won't forget, something they will remember u for. maybe something like:

invisible deck
color changing knives
ambitious card

or anything else u can think of!!! it really doesn't have to be a gimmik, just a great trick that leaves their eyes popping out.

i hope these tips helped u a bit, have the best of luck!!!

Tomer
