who says you have to work there? everyone assumes you do just go in there and sit down have a drink, if you see any one that might be interested do it this gives you more freedom because your not tied down the one area, you dont see blaine working at a restraunt just to do tricks. i suggest just walk up to people.
That post was a little confusing and very misleading.
"who says you have to work there?"
of the establishment says you have to work there. You do not just walk on into any old restaurant and walk up to people and start performing. I'm not a restaurant worker so I am not experienced but even I can tell you that.
"I suggest you just walk up to people"
Once again, I don't have experience in restaurant work, but I have learnt a thing or two from actually bothering to read posts here from people who have experience.
You do not
just walk up to people. You should only perform for people after their order has been taken but before their meals arrive.
You do not just approach anyone either. You can learn to tell from people's body language who do not want to be disturbed. People on their first date, people with kids, are more likely to be interested in someone performing for them, opposed to some people who may be dicussing something private and/very serious. Not everyone wants to see magic.
I expect Paddy will be along later- he will be able to offer some good advice, and I suggest you read his posts and do a lot of searching on this subject.
Oh i forgot, its not legal to talk to anyone you dont know ina restraunt, i didnt know he meant perform as in show. i meant the david blaine type stuff one card trick or coin trick not a whole show, as far as i know its not ilegal to walk up and show a few card tricks no restraunt around me would say anything.
Sorry if you or anyone else took what i said wrong, i was simply telling him that you dont have to work there to show some tricks.(atleast not where i live)
Again Just walk upto people didnt mean first dates like you said you can tell when your wanted and not.
I would also think it would be easyier to do it then working there wouldnt the manager get upset if your performing shows on the job?
Again i did not mean for this to be misleading in anyway.
