Instead of taking something out of their pocket, why not put something in. Slide in a business card with a personal note for them to find later. It's a nice reminder and added emphasis for later. Perhaps not as flashy as picking a pocket, but far less risky for most people. And you won't get arrested or hit if you mess up.

I do this. I will slip stuff into their pockets as they are doing something or put it into there hood. lol
