Ive seen this a lot, magicains doing the watch steal while they just do some phony trick for misdirection. Like having two sponge balls in both of there hands, doing the watch steal, and then just say " oh look, they switched!". While they think to them selves....EPIC FAIL!!! Then you show that you have there watch. Well it seems like you have no reasons to do this, giving them a reason to think back and figure out how you got there watch. My question is does anyone have an actual trick that they can use while stealing someones watch? Im guessing Lip Smacker by Paul Harris would be a good one.

If done right, the spectator shouldn't be able to think back to it and figure it out, as there is a long enough time lapse between the two events. Michael Finney is very good with this. He does a sponge ball routine, which includes a watch steal; however, he reveals the watch much later in the routine, near the end. He does this, I believe, by producing it in his hand, where a sponge ball is suppose to be.
