First of all let me just say that Mr. Coats' dvds rock. He and Mr. Byrd are true professionals and are at the apex in this field of magic. Not only did I get to see these two gentlemen perform on the screen, but I was given the great opportunity to attend their first ever pickpocket seminar.
I can't say enough good things about it. I learned everything, from the patter needed to carry out a smooth picking, to the many different ways used to approach an individual while performing such a technique. The seminar was quite extensive and covered psychological as well as historical applications behind pickpocketing. Even law-enforcement would benefit from this, for Mr. Coats-actively teaches police, and Mr. Byrd-who is a police officer, even taught pickpocket prevention.
And for anyone out there who is upset about secrets being given away, let me just say that this like any other legitimate magic business out there involves a cost-which is fair game in the industry. For if someone is willing to invest in the trick, then the industry says they should be able to learn it. And for the most part; DVD's and the seminar usually attract professionals and serious amateurs willing to put the time in to improve their routine. Not the minority of dupes willing to divulge in the blatant and unethical trade of diseminating magic secrets, which anyone who markets their trade in gimmicks or techniques is sadly susceptible to experiencing. I for one truly despise that practice. With Mr. Coats and Mr. Byrd, I was privy to nothing less than one of the most professional and educational seminars out there. If you are ever given a chance to attend the seminar-do so, it is an incredible experience and a solid investment.
Sincerely,
