He doesn't sound like your friend. Also if he's cool with you just tell him to go practice and he doesn't perform the tricks well. I actually wish I had a friend in magic so we could perform together and share are info.

If you don't want to do that just make funof him when he's doing a trick that's obvious and if he is a big of a weiner as you describe him he'll probably either go home and practice or stop doing magic.

The third thing you can do is cut in while he is performing and whatever trick he is doing, you do the exact trick but with better patter and emabrass him.

teh first way i listed is the mature way to go, but if i was in youor position i would probably go with #3. Good Luck!

3 shell game? metamorphosis? I dunno just show him up by doing something he won't be able to recreate.

My friend is almost a direct replica of the kid you are explaining (but without the "mum treats him like a 5 year old" thing).

He gets great effects that he can't perform, and he doesn't take care of them (they are strewn all over the floor of his room), and he does them at school and can't present OR perform them worth a pile of beans.

And to add to all that, most people have a strong dislike for him because he acts like an [edited] to everyone for NO REASON!!! Literally, I asked him why he acts like an a$$hole to everyone (those were my exact words) and he said, "I don't know". And he knows people hate him for it. He even agreed to let me stop him if I ever thought he was being an [edited], but two weeks later he was at it again.

And to add to it all, he downloads HUGE amounts of magic DVDs and literature (as in the entire Card College and Art of Astonishment series) onto his computer and never spends time ACTUALLY LEARNING how to perform!!! Those last two things are what piss me off the most about him.

It's so hard to deal with these people. I would also like some advice...

Hmmmmm.... and how exactly is he downloading all of this COPYRIGHTED material? That doesn't sound good at all!

As for the downloads, I HAVE NO IDEA.
He is some sort of computer genius, and his cousin is some crazy hacker guy.
But in short, I don't know. Maybe I'll ask him...
Also, his Mac shut down on him for no reason a while ago, and it made me happy, because that's where all of his downloads were!

By the way, the downloads (I'm fairly sure) are from Limewire.

How would you know that?

Well I remember seeing them on his computer when I was at his house.
I seem to remember asking him where he got them, and he said he searched Limewire's "document" section.
