Who cares if they believe that line or not (and they probably don't). It does get me off the hook. I've also been known to use the, "You shouldn't concern yourself with how it's done, but why I do it." Then they ask why, and I say, "Because of that wonderful look in your eyes when it's done."

i usually just lean in and whisper its magic, and they laugh or sumthig, but sumtimes i point at a ridiculous spot to place a magnet after doing a trick most people would know that i don't use a magnet with and say:"do u see that magnet there?"

ROFL.... Finger That is funny as heck, but for some reason I don't think it would work well.. LOL.

When asked how I do it I usually fake a seizure, and that distracts everyone....LOL.
Actually, I use the line as above "Can you keep a secret, well, so can I"

if some one trys that i say:

"wanna see another trick"
they usally say "yes"
and i say "i call this the 6th dimension but in order for it to work you have to look reallllllly close at my hand"

they usally bend down to see it and then i pause for like 30 seconds and they are usally still engaged at it and then i quickly open my hand at yell quite loud close to their head and they get all freaked out and forget about the trick.

at least it worked on some indians
(NOT TRYING TO BE OFFENSIVE)

Steve-o

How did you do that:
If you never had a girlfriend in college, you can also do this.

I know how thats done:
I wrote the script and there are no lines for you.

You only did this and that:
You know, many people have tried to figure out how I do my stuff, but thats got to be the most stupid thing I have ever heard.

I dont recemend that you use the lines above. Dont use them, they are myn.

When somebody asks "How did you do that?", you're not obligated to reply.

Often, they're merely acknowledging your performance. If you did a marvelous job of presentation, they're going to be blown away, right? When performing Close-Up, spectators generally don't actually applaud. (They may have drinks and plates in their hands.) What they do instead is speak. They tell you they were impressed! You hear comments like "I don't believe it!", "No way!", and "How did you do that?"

Be gracious. They don't actually think that you're really gonna reveal the secret. Just say "Glad you liked it! I'm kinda fond of that one myself..."

If you truly feel the need to relpy, use any and all of the lines others have mentioned before:
"Perfectly!"
"The regular way."
"A small, localized anti-gravity field."
"It's years of self-denial..."
"Any twelve-year old can do this -- with fourteen years of practice."

The concept is basic audience management. Remember, you're the one in charge of the show. Take what the spectators give you and work it into the performance. Don't regard their comments as challenges, but as additional opportunities for entertaining the crowd!

i like to act a lil strange when someone says "I know how you do that".. i just look at them and stare with a cold lifeless stare... if they dont get intimidated by that... pretend that you are using voodoo and say that if the continue to talk that the spirits will not be pleased... make sure to keep a straight face... its not that easy when all you wanna do is die laughing
