Well, honestly I think I can answer my own question but I thought I would ask.

I happen to run into alot of performers when I am out and about with my gf or buddies...or at parties, bars etc.

What is the proper thing to do when you run into a fellow performer (I am in my mind an amatuer), but you know the trick? Do you play along with them giving them the satisfaction AND at the same time maybe even playing it up for the crowd? Or do you simply tell them that you know the effect and politely decline?

I'm not on an ego trip to mess up someone's performance but I wondered if its best kept quiet or simply passed on to a fellow passerby...

Just wanting your 2 cents. Thanks!

I would go with it. You might learn a thing or two.
later if you get a chance, talk to the guy, learn share, etc.

but i would think telling them you know it and all seems rude, even if said nicely.

Heck I even let the specs show me stuff, and 9 times out of 10, they say "i am sure you already know this..." But thats how i role. 8)

Good point...this was my initial gut feeling to just roll with it. Thanks!

I am relatively new to magic but I do know how many tricks are done. My job is hiring entertainment for a college which includes many magicians. They oftentimes bring me up for tricks and whenever I know how a trick is done I always go along, knowing what parts are the strongest I often times try to play them up for the crowd, Just because you know magic doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it.

Tell him his DL sucks. Just go with it. The guy could teach you some things and, if not, you may be able to help him out with something.
