i stare at them for a few seconds then get a disgusted look on my face. then i say something to the effect of "hey, there are kids here"

If someone says to you "If you are a real magician, what am I thinking?", just say back to them with a smile "I'm a magician, not a psychic"...:>)

You have to watch how you handle hecklers. They can ruin your routine. Some can be quieted with a snappy comeback. Be careful though. Others are just waiting for you to be egged into a battle of words. It disrupts your "flow" and you'll lose your audience. They dislike him already for cutting into their enjoyment. If all else fails and things are headed for the sewer, go for the jugular. If he leaves himself "open" with a comment like, "what am I thinking..." Let him have it! Say..."I dunno, maybe that you wished you HAD stayed in school past the third grade" or "that you wished you could stop sucking your thumb" or "you hope your parents get married some day"!!! whatever you do, keep it clean...and always know where the closest exit is.

Act like you have to see into their mind and get real close to their face. Tell them to concentrate and after a few seconds of complete silence, scream really loud. Gets 'em every time.
