Can someone tell me a good joke or line I can say if a trick goes wrong to make the audience still be comfortable and feel good about me even though I made a mistake? Thank-You.

A lot of it depends on what kind of mistake is made. If I drop something: "Wow, I'm glad the floor was there to catch that" If I fumble my cards: "Hands of a stergon (yes, like the fish)" If loose a coin from a plam: "whew, I was wondering where that was." The trick is to be comfortable and try and build your response around the situation.

Sean- depends on your audience. here are some outs that have worked for me: "jeez...it worked in the magic store" "that's what I get for buying my tricks thru the internet" (smile Penguin...I'm just kiddin) "oops...did I say I was a magician? I meant musician! For my next song I'd like to play..." "Well if I was really good at this, do you think I'd still be doing my magic in a mall" (or where ever you are) Bottom line is this. Relax. Don't let it fluster you. And move on. Most audiences are there for the entertainment anyways. They'll forgive ya. Have fun.

hi evry1 i have several responces that tend to get a very good reaction they are "it's all part of the show folks--the part that hasn't been rehearsed!" "that's the first time that ever happened again" "it doesn't look as bad from my side" "the real magician will be here shortly" "i'm curious to see how i get out of this myself" Those are my favorite ones well g2g now See Ya' Tom

vaguely familiar of the top ten in 'magic for dummies'. A very good source for some well written basics. I'm from cleveland. What part of the buckeye are you in? Do you regularly perform? Venues? Do you do kid shows at all?

I don't think anyone's said this yet, I can't remember where I read it (if anyone knows - post credit):
"Gee, that's the first time that's happened again..."

I once did an open mike spot at a comedy club. This was the second time I`d performed for a larg(ish) audience.
I lost her card a panicked. I had no idea what to do.
I just threw all the cards in the air, said "f*** it" and walked off stage.
Well it got a laugh anyway...

For instances like that, it's always nice to have a trusty invisable deck :)

"If you think that was a mistake you should have seen my first wife". If you not that old you could try "If you think that was a mistke you should have seen my last girlfriend". If I screw up right at the begining I just stop and do something else. Halfway through or at the end you have to quickly assess whether the trick is recoverable or not. A good line can buy you time to think what to do.

sometimes i say "just testing to see if you saw that" they would say "say what" and id say "exactly!' and smile.
theyll get so confused and then just move onto another trick.
