Heres one I like to use, but rarely, since some volunteers don't understand it.

Magician: May I have a volunteer?

Magician: Oh hello Volunteer. Whats your name?
Volunteer: Jessica
Magician: Oh hello Jessica. May I please have a Volunteer?

(select a volunteer, an older man preferably) Now sir, have we met or had any discussion before this moment. say no, dad. have you ever seen me before? how do you know it's me? never mind.

then you go on and do your trick

Go up to someone you think would make a good volunteer. Ask him or her to hold up their hand in the air. Then ask "Do I have a volunteer?"

With volunteers: "Yes, please just stand as far away from me as I am from you." "Raise your hand a little lower." "May I see your hand? *shows hand* The clean one. *shows other* We'll stick with the first." "Don't worry, nobody will recognize you without the pole."

When your in a situation, on stage, where only one person claps at your trick once it's done just say with a nod ''Thanks mom''
