I know every one liner and comeback on this board of by heart but never used them to great effect. A few days ago I was on stage in a bar doing a Sponge ball routine with Sankey's ear plugs. I never Looked at the audience throughout and was sure that making the sponges come out my ear time and time again and then triple in size would get some gasps. Asd soon as I was done I looked up only to see some unimpressed faces and some just not paying attention. When I was finished only one person clapped and it was a very faint and quick clap. Being someone who is very confident about performing I simply smiled and without thinking the one liner that I saw here ages ago popped into my mind and I said it without thinking: 'Thanks Mom'
Just as soon as I said this the room was filled with laughter and one guy drinking a beer squirted it from his nose. I guess it's true what they say: 'It's not what you do, it's how you do it' basically 'Presenaton is more important than the trick' and it certainly is.
