Ever do a spectacular change to a chosen card or a flourish effect wherein a card flies out of a deck and lands perfectly in your hand and you triumphantly hand it to the spectator only to have them say ..."that wasn't my card."

How do you respond if you somehow messed up, or worse, maybe they're saying that?

That is always such a bummer. In order to avoid the spectator lying about their card you could get them to sign it, as proof that it's theirs.

As far as getting the wrong card goes, it just takes practise until you can do the trick perfectly. The best advice I can give is to pretend that what happened was supposed to happen. Never look anxious, or if you do, pretend that you're pretending to be anxious.

If you didn't get your spectator to sign their card, you could say, "Wait a minute. I know why that's not your card. Your card isn't even IN this deck of cards - it's in THIS deck." Pull out an invisible deck and show that their card is now reversed in the deck. It's just an idea but the key thing is to not lose face because of it. Make a joke out of it. There are loads of jokes you can make that have been posted in this forum. Another thing is not to leave on a downer. Always try to end on a successful trick, or find a way to successfully rectify a trick gone wrong. Don't accept defeat.

try to make sure you perform for more than one person. that way you get them to pick a card and show it to everone else. That way they can't deny its their card, 'cause everyone else have seen it!

you can also have fun with it without their card.. say "i believe you, it
wasnt your card", do a top cange and let them know that the card has
changed... do some colour changes with the wrong card, you can also
say "if that isnt your card lets get rid of it" and do a backpalm vanish...

Yeah, I never do a trick without them signing it. But the disadvantage is another card wasted

You: "It is now!"

If you peeked at the top or bottom card and found out that it was the selection (you know because it's signed), that patter would go nicely with the snap change. Plus it'd be true.

Always make sure that when you are performing for more than 1 person, that everyone see's the selected card.
That way, there is less of a chance that the spec will say that the card isnt his/her card. This also makes the rest of the audience feel slightly more involved as they are being included.

Another way, which has already been mentioned, is to have the spec sign their card. Them they have no excuses for trying to make you seem like a fool.

Hmm... I did a mistake once during the tip over change ... but since the card changed to another card which wasn't the spect card. He said that wasn't his card but he was amazed that i "change" the original card.

Do a trick that you have to look at the card. that way you know what the card is and they cant lye. Or if they say it isnt their card put it back on top of the decka nd say stuff like "this wasnt your card?" Then top palm the card and have them look for their card. When they find it tell them to put that card on top of the desk face down. Then keep saking them if they are sure that that card was theirs. Put your palmed card back on top and ask one last time. then flip over the card and say "i thought i was right." or sumthing along those lines.

the way i do it is if you get the wrong card ask them to tell you what their card was and force it to the top and do a "pop change" and make the wrong card "change" to there card

Many ways to get out of this.

or

ask what their card was. Take that card and make it change into the new one, and say 'You see that was your card'

what I'll do sometimes is have them pick a card, then I find out the card one way or another, and tell them to forget It. I then do something even more amazing, and find a way to slip that card in, and act as amazed as them when they see their card.
