What do you do when a spectator asks to shuffle the pack, or examine something, when it can't be examined or the pack can't be shuffled?

A well put wise crack always works for me, depending on your personality, mine's a wise-[edited] yet witty type of uhhh... guy so I can just say corny things and make'em sound funny with my tone such as "what am I a magician?" or "Hey! no upstaging the magician" and that usually gets a small chuckle while I tell'em to pick a card or whatever it is I'm doing.

Or, if there are enough people, just ignore the wise-guy who asked it.

The best thing to do is to buy a deck switcher. That way you can always show them your deck after the trick is done. If you don't have a deck switcher, GET ONE! Or just learn to do tricks with a regular deck of cards. OR the other out is to have a regular deck in your jacket pocket and as soon as you are done with the gimmicked deck put them in the pocket with the regular deck and pull out the regular deck if they happen to want to see them. Good Luck!!!

I usually say

"Hey, I´m the magician here"
and go on with the trick like nothing else

However I have a routine with a vanishing silk that nomather what you ends up in a small purse, thats been checked empty before.
One girl tried to steal the purse from the table as I was performing, and kept asking to look inside it before the trick had finished.

well frankly i really dislike it when it happens.because if i dont let them see it they will know its riged.and if i give in the will figure it out or get a idea of the secret.now i dont show people the trick more then two times, and if it two times their lucky.... switch the riged thing and put some miss direction in that always helps.if they think somthing up and their about to say can i see it or if they already ask"can i see it?",play dumb but charming and entertaining at the same time....or you can just get out and say "NO.".

if you have the spectaters come to you its alot better.because you know they want to see some magic.and wont really care about figureing out the trick (hopefuly).to get them to come do a great flurish or a levitation something like coinbite always helps.i also notice that girls give better reactions then guys.i hope i helped you.... :D

You can just make some sort of joke or something, that will normally make them forget they even asked. People can be distracted and forget very easily. :o
