Stare blankly at the trick that went horribly wrong. Blink your eyes a couple times really stupidly. Then throw it over your shoulder and practically yell "...AND FOR MY NEXT TRICK..." Then just go on with your routine. The awkwardness of the moment just dissapates and turns into laughter. The only problem is you have to wait a couple minutes before you introduce you next prop because they just won't stop laughing. : )

I usually say something like "I never said I was a GOOD magician".

When people ask me,"How'd you do that?!?!?!?" I tell them to come closer and witha serious voice I say,"Can you keep a secret?" When they say yes, I say,"So can I." That usually gets them to laugh long enough for your getaway.

I do the throw-the-trick-over-the-shoulder move also, but I put the props or cards in my pocket rather than ruin them by throwing them!

When I was performing at Toys R Us I opened up my Kaps on Fire Wallet. The flames wouldn't come. After a few tries, I just calmly closed it up and, without a care in the world, tossed it behind me. I'm glad I didn't hit anyone!
