I was performing at school with a crowd of around 30 people who had specificly come up and asked me to do some card tricks, particularly colour monte(my personal favourite), i did it first but then had no shock horror finish and when my routine was done I couldnt find a way to end, they just kept demanding tricks, What can I do or say?

When ending your routine always and I mean always end with something suprising. Color Monte was perfect, with a great end. You should have stopped in there.

If they keep demanding more, then what can I say? Learn to handle your spectadors. Not treat them like Kings and Queens.

Yea i am going to agree with m-b on this one cause what he said, you should do. In my opinon stay a step ahead by planning everthing out first.

From my own experiance I found you shouldnt hit them with your best trick right off the bat. Do a couple that you feel are a few knotches below your best. But always save it for last. And if they keep hounding you for more after that simply smile and say sorry guys first two were on me

What I like to do is perform two of my best tricks. Then end it there I found out that if you do little sprits of magic it will totally boost your magic credibility. Rather than over expose a crowd with too much magic. Plus when you’re doing a show try to establish that the magician is in control the whole time. Also if you go out on a really good mind control trick it will leave your audience question what has just happened and hopefully you can take your congrats and slip away on a big high.

This is my routine in most situations.

1. Attention grabber (Raven, bite out quarter)
2. Crowd starts to form. Keeping your crowd. (Card tricks-TCM's always good.)
3. Keep going with another gimmick like any pen through dollar tricks.
4. Another card trick.
5. Finish - The Invisible Hankerchief. I love finishing with that trick. A good finishing trick. I say that's all, and before I take off, I "accidentally" drop my handkerchief. I pick it up, and and perform the trick while saying, "This way it won't get lost again."

Like any good scout - Be Prepared! also think outside the box...

With a single packet of 5 cards ONLY

Owed to Poker Dan
The Daley Show
Twisting the aces
My own Mini ACR
Color Monte
Real 3 card monte

and more.... color monte being one of the weakest.... always with me in my wallet + a few rubberbands - CMH, Pinnacle, Star Gazer

Coins - tons of ungimmicked tricks incl my S&S with C/S/B finish

Don't rely on gimmicks unless it can be used for more than one trick or you end up stuck! move towards impromptu dvd's such as On the Spot instead of wasting money on one-off gimmicks....

The card tricks above are all very different, only two use a gimmicked card (the same one)
