People always ask me why I use the jacket when I preform Wild Levitation, and I never know how to respond to them. Any ideas? :|

"My pants comes down to my knees when I try to levitate. Not a pretty sight."

"I don't want you to see the mini-jetpacks on my knees."

"The wires i'm connected to make a bulge in my pants, and reveal the secret, which I do not wanna do."

"I just pissed my pants."

"For THIS!" The whip them around with the jacket.

Maybe instead of trying to rebuttle your spectators, you should listen to them. Maybe the fact that you can't answer that question yourself with good reason should be giving you some clues. Look, of course you're gonna get that response. You shouldn't need a jacket to levitate. It doesn't make sense. Go with a levitation that DOESN'T need a jacket. I recommend Zero Gravity.

Yea, how does that answer the question??

You're right, it DOESN'T.

Make a story about how if magicians catch colds they go bonkers and they do weird things like sneeze frogs and cough rabbits, make it funny so they forget about the jacket. Or just tell them that its to keep your legs from freezing because during a levitation your legs get cold and you might turn into a giant magician flavored popsickle, try to make it funny, even though most of what I said wasnt all that funny but think of somthing so your ready for the next time and not just say the first thing that comes out of your head like I just did.. lol

You can also say that when you levitate a super bright light comes from the spirits lifting you, and to keep them safe you block the view of them so the spirits dont go after you, dont make it too scary though. Dont make them think a spirit will actualy stalk them, say it with a sarcastic voice or somthing so you know they dont belive the spirit thing, most people wont but every once and a while you find a person that will belive everything you tell them.

hope this helps, and if you cant find a good thing to say to that, I recomend the King Rising levitation but I cant actualy tell you where to get it, I think posting other sites is against the rules.

hope this helps!

Man, I don't know, people are bound to believe that spirit thing. And then they might not be able to get to sleep at night worrying about it. Then they'll hate magicians forever.

Or just inexperienced kid magicians.

I got this patter from andrew mayne after reading his levitation book , in his trick the magician puts the jacket infront of his feet puts one foot ontop of the other saying" by doing this i will catch air between my feet" after doing that he slowly rises a good 4-5 inches off the ground- better if u do his trick on a stair case.... maybe you could change that patter around to meet ur trick such as "the jacket will catch air " or somthing like that.. im sure ur idea is better than mine

Don't take the jacket of JUST to do the levitation. First have the jacket in front as normal and tuck one of your legs in. Then raise the jacket to show one leg gone. Do the same for the other leg. It can look quite good if done fluently but the point is they can guess what's going on. Then do the levitation. There's no question about the jacket, it's just part of the show. If you just do the levitation straight away then they think 'if all he wanted to do was levitate, then why the jacket?' but if you use the above patter they see the jackets reason (for the dissapearing legs.)

Hey Kungfu, that's exactly what I do. It gets great reactions. For those who have wild levitation, definitely try this. It works well :D
