actually I perform at carabbas, I learned a lesson from a friend of mine, his name is mark the magic man he is also a local magician at famous daves, when you drop only one or two cards dont pick them up, if you drop the whole deck ..... go gome and quit doing paid jobs.... everyone asks why don;t you pick up that card, and normally my response, so theres one that i know your card is not, or dont answer and just keep going

say that you are doing a floor show.

If you drop maybe 10 cards stare at them for a second and continue shuffleing the cards in your hand. 92% of the time, someone else will pick the cards up.

Everyone drops cards once in a while, it happens to the best of us. I use a line about how it's misdirection, or claim with really bad acting that I meant to do that. If the line is delievered right, it'll get a good laugh

I remember in the Very Best of Jay Sankey, he dropped the card and said somethings along the lines of "Oh the three of clubs! That's weird. That was the card that I was thinking of." while picking it up.

Everyone slips up once in a while. Ive done paid gigs where I've been incredibly nervous and managed to drop a few cards (or more) and when that happens its how you deal with it that makes the performer. Anyone can pick up and perform a magic trick, but its the patter and the presentation that makes it. That includes when you make a mistake.

There are a good few one liners like "is that your card" or "i meant to do that" but sometimes its just fun to make it up on the spot. I once dropped a few cards on the floor and jokingly commented that "I usually do escapology and it seems the rest of my routine wants to try it as well" Play to what people know about you and if they know nothing just laugh about it and carry on. They'll remember your good tricks not your slip ups

You: "Notice how I used my telekinetic powers to make the cards fall in that exact patttern" point at the jumbled mess "Did you know how difficult that is to do, no really I'll pay you ten bucks If you can make them fall exactly like that"

That's great! Did you come up with that on your own, or did you hear it from somebody else? If it's yours... mind if I use it?
