We all do it, we all mess up. What do you say if you mean to false shuffle but you mess up and you know it, yet you're in the middle of a trick like Sam the Bellhop? I cannot come up with one.

Any ideas?

I don't know. The problem is that most magicians think that there's a way out of every mess up. There is not I'm afriad. There's only how to avoid it. like practice more, it's harsh and I'm sure you've heard it a thousand times, but so did I. And it's true. Think of it like an illness - prevention is a crap load better than cure. And not all illnesses have cures.

I know that much, practice and practice some more, but even the most practice cannot make it perfect, everyone messes up. I have not yet in this situation, but just in case I need some out's or lines because I want to start performing tricks like Sam the Bellhop. I just don't have any ideas for outs.

If I do that, I sometimes make a joke, pretending that the entire intention was a joke.

"Pick a card. Now, put it into the deck."

*Deck is false shuffled but accidentally lost*

"Okay. Now, forget that card and pick another card, because I'm picky like that."

If it's just an effect where they pick a card and you find it somewhere else, force the card. That way you know what it is. If you're in the middle of Sam The Bellhop, you're just in trouble.

If you mess up with a card, I always say pick another card. They will get annoyed but they will stay because thay want to see the magic.

usually if i loose the card during a false shuffle i just say " actually, lets do a something different. We'll get back to this later" and then i proceed to doing a different trick. And if they ask why, just say because this next trick leads up to it. By the time the other trick is over they wont even remember the whole deal with stopping in the middle of the trick.
