I've noticed that sometimes when I do close up work some people like to grab at the deck, wanting to inspect it. What do you guys do in these situations?

If it's a trick deck, attack them. Trust me it works.

(I was only being sarcastic)

Well...I was assuming you really don't want them to handle your cards for whatever reason. Stacked deck, holding a break, card stock, they have barbecue sauce on their fingers...whatever reason.

Okay...let's try to think of things that don't involve hurting or harrassing the spectators. Hm?

Anything non-verbal, for example?

There are exceptions, but if someone grabs my deck, then I smile, take the cards, and walk away. But you must remain in control. Even if you express anger, it has to be controlled. This does not happen to me, probably because of my age. I also never use a gimmicked deck, and I sometimes let them examine the deck, but it is a bad example to set if someone can grab the cards.

The only gimmick I carry is the Invisible Deck and people always want to look at that so all I do is put it back into my pocket and pull out an "invisible deck" for them to inspect. Most people will generally either beat the edited out of you and then take the deck from your pocket or do something else because they dont want to look like an idiot inspecting non-exsistant cards.
