I have a similar problem, I did some tricks to a girl and now every time I see her, she is like "how did you do that? how did you do that? how did you do that? I am going to bug you until you tell me. how did you do that? how did you do that?...." u get the idea... I usually don't preform rutines, usually just a trick or 2 so I can't just go on to the next one.

tell her to hike into some mountains with a stick and no shoes or food but shee will be ok becasse she has a stick then tell her to stay there for 10 days

then come back and ask if she knows she wont then tell her you are stupid for doing it

It depends on your presentation style.

I use a lot of humor, so I like to go al surrealistic:

"How did you do that?"
"You have to make sure you get the right type of chicken."
or
"Just make sure you never attempt it on a tuesday" (if it is tuesday)
or
"The voices in my head talk me through it, and tell me to light fires"

How did you do that?

If I tell you, it will no longer be magic.

Ajust your presentation. If you present it as a puzzle, expect that responce. Present it as magic and you won't here "How did you do that?" except as a statement of suprise, which only needs to be answered with a smile.

Young magicians tend to forget presentation is EXTREEMLY important. You have to be in charge of your audence, and NEVER let them take charge of you with "demanding" questions. A Smile, a whisper in the ear "It's magic" is all that is needed. By saying "I can keep a secret too" you reduce the magic to a secret, when you should be making the secret into magic.

I like what Fccheif stated in a thread about exposure:

"I adhere to the magicians oath."

I sometimes say "I am bound by the magician's code of not revealing secrets."

I also apply this when asked to repeat an effect. These responses allow you to stand your ground and establish respect for your craft. Both replies make it official in a way.

Even laymen are aware that magicians are NOT supposed to reveal secrets.

I was in the Mall the other day and started performing for some of the bored food court employees. Before I knew it, I had a crowd around me and things got a little tense, because the corn dog guy started demanding that I tell him "how I did it?" I calmly smiled and gave him Paddy's line. "I did it very well, I perform all my effects well." He stopped bugging me and asked to see something else. I did color monte and he was beside himself and said "how did you do that so well?"
Can't blame the guy for trying. "Don't hate the player, hate the game" was my response.
