do you ever get spectators who just won't stop saying "how did you do that?". i had that happen last night. i did a few effects for this girl i met and her reaction every time was "how did you do that?". but it seemed as if it was sort of a rhetorical question. but i still dont really know how to respond. i kind of just said stuff like "well i'm sweet and thats how it is" or "i dont know, it just happens for some reason". just random stuff really. anyone have a nice response for this reaction? something funny would be especially nice, chicks like jokes

well make up some totally random explanation
for instance: (torn and restored)
well you see the laws of physics keep the card together giving the illusion that it is really torn but in reality it is still together but you put the orange where there is not any rain and the pigs dont eat frogs on sundays

When I develop my effects, I have a specific target reaction in mind. To get a different reaction then you must do something differently.

If your target reaction is to get "how did you do that". That is fine.

If it is not the one you want, refine it differently or make a few different scripts about it to trigger a reaction then go field test them. Find the script that closely supports your target reactions and persue it.

I don't think you need a reply in most cases! Becuase that question is really just part of them having their reaction and is nothing you have to answer! Remember they have many thoughts going throught their mind when a trick is done, so naturally words and questions like these are just in response to their amazment. But, if you do answer you should not make the trick sound like it is done with slieght of hand that just looses the magic! Hope this has helped!

Thanx :D

"can you keep a secret? so can I".... --- Oz

I think that's one of the best one-liners I've heard. I'll definitely be using it.

I have a similar problem, I did some tricks to a girl and now every time I see her, she is like "how did you do that? how did you do that? how did you do that? I am going to bug you until you tell me. how did you do that? how did you do that?...." u get the idea... I usually don't preform rutines, usually just a trick or 2 so I can't just go on to the next one.
